A new technique at the Health Sciences North hospital in Sudbury is welcome news for women who need a hysterectomy. Normally women spend a week in the hospital after their uterus is removed and then weeks recovering at home because the surgery is very invasive. But new equipment allows surgeons to remove the uterus through a very small incision and the patient can leave the hospital the same day. The procedure results in little scarring and reduced complications.
