Study underway to reduce sea lamprey in Great Lakes

An associate professor at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie may have a way to reduce sea lamprey in the Great Lakes.  Doctor Istvan Imre has developed a chemical that essentially repels adult lampreys from each other making it harder to reproduce.  The Great Lakes Fishery Commission has given Imre $105,000 to test his chemical.  Lampreys are not native to the Great Lakes and feed by attaching themselves to native fish then suck their blood which can result in death.
