Doctor Kevin McCormick of Sudbury and Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre have taken part in an important historical ceremony. McCormick officially handed over a World War One Memorial Cross medal to the Department of National Defense. The soldier who was awarded the medal was one of many Canadians whose name is enshrined at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France. McCormick has been buying hundreds of historical artifacts at his own expense then donates them to museums and military units. It’s his way to make sure we don’t forget the sacrifices our troops made to ensure our freedom. Serre agrees with McCormick and it’s why he’s helped champion the doctor’s preservation project.
