Someone is phoning Sturgeon Falls residents pretending to be the police. West Nipissing police Inspector Ray St. Pierre says the local office has received at least two calls from people saying police called them. And St. Pierre says the fraudsters are not making a courtesy call. He says the fake cops are calling homeowners saying there`s an arrest warrant out for them and if they don`t call back, they`ll be arrested. St. Pierre says police don`t do this kind of thing. He says police don`t tip their hand by phoning a person they plan to arrest ahead of time. His suggestion is don`t call the fraudsters back.
