A resident of Sturgeon Falls is waiting to hear if her daughter is alright after Hurricane Maria hit the Caribbean island of Dominica. Lynn Cockburn-Ouellette says she last spoke to her daughter on Monday just hours before Maria arrived. Her daughter Sara Oullette Subero moved to Dominica in 2014 with her husband to operate a small resort. The Toronto Star says Oullette-Subero told her mother that she and her guests would stay at her resort until the storm passed. Oullette-Subero says they had supplies to see them through. Hurricane Maria destroyed Dominica’s communication so it’s cut off from everyone else.
