A strong and varied line-up and some funding was announced for CANO (Conseil des arts de Nipissing Ouest) just ahead of their presentation of the acrobatic circus “Barbecue” on Friday at Goulard Park. MPP John Vanthof was on hand for the Trillium funding announcement of $68 thousand dollars and highlighted how CANO’s work contributes to the growth of West Nipissing by allowing young people “to further the identity of their community, the Francophone community which is very important and has contributed greatly to all of our culture in this area and will continue to do so”.

CANO’s artistic director Catherine Levac-Lafond says this funding is for “a variety of children and youth programming for the Francophones and also the Anglophones who want to experience the arts and culture in French”.

CANO President Marc Lavigne says top-notch musical presentations like “Piano Man” and “La Chicane” are just one part of the variety of programming on tap for this year. “Circus, theater, comedy, and other programming” will allow CANO to “expand its horizons”.
