Elderly cyclist dies in Sudbury after hit by vehicle

A 25-year-old Sudbury man is facing charges after his vehicle hit a cyclist who later died of his injuries.   The cyclist was pedaling his bike on Paris Street around 10:30pm Monday when he was hit.   The victim, who was an 85-year-old man, died in hospital a short time later.  The driver of the vehicle initially drove off after hitting the senior but then came back.  However because he fled the scene, police have charged him with failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death.  The man is also charged with dangerous driving causing death.  The name of the cyclist won’t be released at the request of his family.
