Cottage and campground business to close

A long-time business in West Nipissing is closing.   The owner of Dutrisac Cottages and Campground is closing the facility and plans to break up the property to be sold as individual lots.  Sixty-two-year-old Mike Stevens inherited the campground from the Dutrisac family and has worked it for nearly half a century.  Stevens says a number of reasons factored in his decision to close including his health.  Stevens told the North Bay Nugget he’s invested a lot of money into the facility over the years and adds the cost of doing business has gone up a lot.  Hydro alone has jumped 40 percent for Stevens in the last three years and now the minimum wage is also going up.  Stevens has served eviction notices to the campers who have to remove their trailers by next spring.
