The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party is using a report from the Fraser Institute to show the Wynne Liberal debt reduction plan is a lie. The party’s finance critic, Vic Fedeli of Nipissing, says the Liberals maintain their projections for economic growth will reduce the debt ratio. But Fedeli says the Fraser report calls these projections questionable. The report also points out that to really see debt ratio reduction, then the government can’t add any more debt after 2021. However, Fedeli says the Liberals have not shown that they’re ready to curb debt growth at any time. Fedeli says for years the Tories have claimed that the government’s finances are a sham and now independent experts are backing up that claim.
