Add another big name to the list of witnesses who will be testifying at the Sudbury bribery trial in September. Sudbury MPP and energy minister Glenn Thibeault is confirming he will be testifying as a witness for the prosecution. Earlier this week Premier Kathleen Wynne said she will also be a witness for the Crown. Thibeault is who the Liberals wanted to run in 2015 by-election instead of Andrew Olivier. It’s alleged two high-ranking Liberals bribed Olivier with a job or appointment if he stepped aside and let Thibeault run. Both Gerry Lougheed Junior of Sudbury and Pat Sorbabra, the Premier’s former chief of staff, deny bribing Olivier. They are both charged under the Ontario Election Act.
