How the food bank has helped West Nipissing residents

As the West Nipissing Food Bank continues to replenish its cash to buy more food, we’re hearing stories of how grateful people are that the agency is there to lend a helping hand.  President Claudette LeRoy says one client was a woman who couldn’t feed herself because she ran low on food and also needed medical attention.  LeRoy says she turned to the food bank which was able to help out and in return the food bank has also benefitted.  LeRoy says the woman has indicated she’ll volunteer her services for the agency.  In another incident, an unemployed man who has since found work again dropped by the food bank to thank LeRoy.  The man had to use the agency while unemployed and LeRoy commented that she hadn’t seen him for a good while.  The man said it’s because he’s working again.  He promised something for the food bank at Christmas time.   The food bank has raised about $5,000 this week which started with an impromptu broadcast with Moose FM.  Donations can still be made by calling LeRoy at 594-2279.
