Northern Ontario MP’s discuss regional issues and priorities at meeting in Thunder Bay

The seven Liberal MPs who represent Northern Ontario have wrapped up a meeting discussing northern priorities.  They will roll out these priorities in an action plan when MPs return to Ottawa in September for the fall sitting of the House of Commons.

Among the priorities are healthcare in First Nation communities, upgrading airports in rural and remote northern communities and improving the quality of care for seniors. Two other priorities are improving access to affordable living and better freight rail service. The MP’s met in Thunder Bay and included Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre.

Serre says the MP’s have been meeting with northerners over the summer talking about issues that matters to them. Other MPs at the planning session included Terry Sheehan of Sault Ste. Marie and Paul Lefebvre, the MP for Sudbury.
