City not liable for damaged vehicles due to potholes

A North Bay resident won’t be able to collect from the city damage her car sustained because of numerous potholes this year.  Eunice Saari’s car sustained almost $600 in damage as the result of her hitting major potholes on Ski Club Road where she lives.  Sarri adds many other people filed claims but also can’t collect.  It’s because the City’s insurance adjuster says the city isn’t negligent since it met the minimum maintenance standards.  Councillor Chris Mayne says once pothole repair season arrives, the city identifies where they are and fills them within the required time meaning the city can’t be held responsible for damage to motor vehicles.
