B-17 Bomber in North Bay in July

Residents in Nipissing have a chance next month to see one of history’s rarest war planes.  A B-17 Bomber will be in North Bay along with a crew telling stories about the famous plane.   The one coming to North Bay has been restored and is only one of 10 still able to fly.   The World War Two plane was built so well it was nicknamed the Flying Fortress and could sustain heavy damage and still return home.  The public can get a close up view of the plane plus rides are available at a cost.  For more information go online to www.flyinglegendstour.com   The B-17 will be at the Jack Garland Airport from July 3rd to the 9th.

The visit is possible thanks to the volunteers from the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum.  The North Bay stop over is one of about 50 taking place over the summer in the U.S. and Canada as part of the Summer Flying Legends of Victory Tour.  The tour has three planes in all that visit different communities.
