Health unit posts report on drinking

Greater access to booze is cited as one reason why people in the North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit zone drink a lot.  The health unit says the concentration of alcohol outlets is 1.5 times higher in its coverage area compared to the provincial average.  The study looks at the drinking habits of people aged 45 to 64 in 2015.   The report indicates that people in this group are more likely to be hospitalized for alcohol-related incidents than those elsewhere in Ontario.   Details of the report can be seen at the health unit’s website.
