Ontario Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault says he’s ready and willing to face Ontario voters next year over the issue of soaring hydro rates. Thibeault says that’s because rebuilding Ontario’s electrical system is something that had to be done.
Thibeault was speaking about the Fair Hydro Plan over the weekend, touting the relief people in Northern Ontario will see. Thibeault says people will see a 25 per cent reduction on average, but those living in Northern Ontario and rural areas could qualify for even greater reductions of up to 40 to 50 per cent.
He says people outside of the big centres in Northern Ontario, like West Nipissing, could see the biggest relief on their hydro bills.
