West Nipissing City Council passed a resolution on Tuesday night to proclaim today, May 18th, 2017, as Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
Mayor Joanne Savage says it’s important to raise awareness about different kinds of disabilities because society is moving forward on these issues. She says it’s not just about access to buildings and business buildings, it also refers to electronic access to information to users with other types of disabilities, like hearing, speech and visuals. Global Accessibility Awareness Day also urges web developers across the globe to work to make all websites accessible for everyone.
