West Nile observation program underway

The Sudbury and District Health Unit has begun its West Nile surveillance program.  That means it’s trapping mosquitoes to see if the virus is in the area.  Last year in Ontario 50 people came down with West Nile.  The Sudbury region has seen only one case of the virus in people and that was two years ago.  Normally the virus causes mild sickness but for older people or those with a poor immune system it can result in meningitis and encephalitis.
