There’s no longer a concern that the deadly drug carfentanil might be circulating in North Bay. The North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit first thought a person overdosed on the drug last weekend thinking it was cocaine. But toxicology tests show it wasn’t carfentanil which is many times stronger than fentanyl and morphine. Carfentanil is used to tranquilize large animals like horses and elephants. The patient was given a reversing agent to counter the drug’s effects.
