Ontario`s three major political leaders are in North Bay this week. They`re guest speakers at the annual conference of the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities. The three day events begins Wednesday and this year`s theme is Forward Thinking for a Greater North. In addition to the three leaders, FONOM has also lined up Steve Paikin, the host of TVO`s The Agenda as the keynote speaker. Also on hand are various ministers including energy minister Glenn Thibeault and Bill Mauro, the interim minister of northern development and mines. Sessions at the conference include discussions on labour trends in the Northeast and tools for increasing affordable housing. This is the 57th annual FONOM conference which attracts dozens of mayors and city councillors from Northeastern Ontario.
