A very deadly drug could be making the rounds in North Bay. The drug is carfentanil and a person may have taken the drug thinking it was cocaine. Carfentanil is used to tranquilize large animals like horses and elephants. It’s 100 times more toxic than fentanyl and 10-thousand more times powerful than morphine. The person who took the drug had a hard time breathing and then passed out. The patient was taken to hospital where they were given large doses of narcan to reverse the effects. Medical personnel haven’t yet confirmed the person took carfentanil but suspect that’s what the drug was.
