The fallout continues over last week’s provincial budget. Timiskaming-Cochrane New Democrat John Vanthof says Northern Ontario is a big loser in the budget. Vanthof says some ministries involved with the north have seen their budgets cut. However, Vanthof is cutting the Liberals some slack and hopes the cuts are a misunderstanding. Vanthof says he hopes the cuts are the result of a lack of understanding of what drives parts of the province because the budget totally ignores rural and Northern Ontario. Among the ministries that got hit in the budget are northern development and mines, natural resources and forestry, indigenous affairs and lastly, agriculture.
