First Nations oppose transportation of radioactive liquid waste

First Nations are waiting to hear back from the Prime Minister to see if he’ll cancel the transportation of highly radioactive liquid waste from Chalk River to South Carolina.  The First Nations don’t want the waste transported at all for fear an accident could contaminate land or water.  The waste is what’s left over from weapons-grade uranium.  The transportation agreement was reached when Barack Obama was U.S. President and Stephen Harper was our Prime Minister.  But First Nations want current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to cancel the deal.  They also say there’s a process that allows Chalk River to eliminate the uranium on their own site meaning it doesn’t have to be transported at all.
