Nipissing-Temiskaming MP Anthony Rota announces $1.9-million in funding for the Kirkland Lake area

More than 1.9 million in funding is being invested in the Kirkland Lake area by the federal government, through FedNor, to support technology and innovation, as well as research and development. Nipissing-Temiskaming MP Anthony Rota made the announcement, and says $1.6 million will support the operations of the Kirkland Community Development Corporation for a five-year period. Specifically, the funding will enable this not-for-profit, business-focused organization to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with business counselling services and access to capital.

It will also support strategic planning and community economic development initiatives. The remaining money will enable the Materials Joining Innovation Centre to support technology and innovation for businesses by expanding its current range of services to industry. The centre will be able to purchase and install state-of-the-art equipment, manage and promote new programs and services.
