Letter of intent signed to forge mining relationship between Mexico and Sudbury

Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre has signed a letter of intent between the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation, the Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Services Association and the State of Guerrero. Serre signed the letter during Mexico Mining Day last week at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada convention in Toronto.

The letter of intent means all parties agree to work together to identify, analyze and develop opportunities for collaboration in the support of mineral development in the state of Guerrero. The letter will remain in effect for a period of three years unless terminated or amended with the mutual written consent of the participants.

Serre says collaboration and creating partnerships are important to the growth of the economy, communities and countries and each year, the industry employs nearly 20,000 residents of Northern Ontario. He added it’s important to note the amount of time, dedication and succession planning it takes to bring this forward and it was a pleasure to represent the region at PDAC.

Serre shared the Canadian mining industry alone exported more than $82 billion-worth of goods to other countries, and that SAMSSA is recognized as one of the most sophisticated mining supply clusters globally because it continually meets all the established criteria. He finished by saying it was also quite evident that the Northern Ontario Mining Cluster has developed as a mature cluster based on studies by major agencies and institutions who study this concept.
