First Nation to hire EDO through FedNor grant

We could see some accelerated economic activity at the Temagami First Nation thanks to a grant from FedNor.  The federal agency is giving the reserve nearly $300,000 to hire an economic development officer over the next three years.  The EDO’s priority will be to help create sustainable middle-class jobs.  Over the next while the EDO will create an economic development corporation in Temagami and develop a cultural tourism and business plan.  The EDO will also look into how to accelerate business growth by using natural resources on the reserve like wood and maple syrup.  Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota made the announcement and says the money lets Temagami take charge of its economic future and enhance middle-class job opportunities.
