Police say snowmobile deaths this winter preventable

So far this winter 13 people have died in snowmobile crashes.  And after linking the causes to things like drinking and driving, speeding and going over unsafe ice, police say the deaths were preventable.  Police say three of the deaths were the result of people taking their sleds over unsafe ice. And just last week an 11-year-old girl died when she tried crossing a busy highway on a snowmobile and crashed into a transport trailer.  Police say we need to make smart choices when operating a snowmobile and are reinforcing the notion, don’t take unnecessary risks.
