Serre aims to improve phone service in St. Charles

Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre is stepping up to help St. Charles residents get better phone quality.  Serre met with the residents who told him about not being able to get dial tones on their landlines or running into distorted dial tones.  The inconsistent service has residents worried about not being able to reach 9-1-1 in an emergency.  Kathy Lalonde told Serre of her effort to call 9-1-1 last October when her neighbour’s home was burning.  She called five times and only got a dial tone twice.  A senior who uses lifeline told Serre she’s worried that the system won’t connect properly one day and it’s because of the inferior phone quality.  Serre agrees it’s a scary thought to be a senior in need only to be caught in a situation where no one hears your cry for help.  Serre is asking the CTRC and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development to see what can be done to improve phone service.
