Having a working video surveillance camera made it very easy for West Nipissing police to catch two people in thefts at two businesses. Inspector Ray St. Pierre says in Lavigne a woman went into the lunchroom of a business and stole several items including a cellphone. St. Pierre says fortunately the owner had a video camera on site. With the video, police identified the woman and she is now charged with theft under $5,000. In Sturgeon Falls someone stole a tip jar from the counter top of a business. But here again police used the store’s surveillance system and saw a man taking the jar. St. Pierre says police identified the man and he’s charged with theft under $5,000.
