Regional Chief says not enough money coming to First Nation kids

Ontario’s Regional Chief says despite a ruling by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, the feds still aren’t putting enough money into child welfare.  Isadore Day says the amount is less than half what the Tribunal ordered last year.   Day says in the ruling, the Tribunal found the feds racially discriminated against 163-thousand First Nation children.  Day says the shortfall issue is becoming similar to that time in history when First Nation people were forced to attend residential schools.  First Nations consider the residential schools one of Canada’s greatest ever social injustices against them.    Day says in the ruling, the Tribunal found the feds racially discriminated against 163,000 First Nation children.  In some cases First Nations divert money from program to program to meet the funding gaps.  Day says this can’t go on and says First Nation children must have access to the same services as non-Aboriginal kids.
