Council may create $6.50 tax levy to help raise money for a CT Scanner for West Nipissing General Hospital

The West Nipissing General Hospital is turning to the municipality for help to acquire a CT scanner.  Mayor Joanne Savage says the scanner would cost about $2.5-million.  She says the hospital board wants municipal help to raise about one quarter of the total amount.   The local share would be in the form of a tax levy of $6.50 per household applied over 15 years.   The hospital believes a CT scanner is one more tool that helps it deliver quality, primary health care for the region.
