We likely will never know what caused last July’s massive fire in downtown Sturgeon Falls. A report from the Fire Marshall’s Office concludes that the damage was so great that the cause is undetermined but was not suspicious. The July 14th fire displaced nearly a dozen tenants and destroyed five businesses including the Moose FM station in Sturgeon Falls. Fortunately some key equipment was salvaged and our engineer had us back on the air at a new site in almost no time. The fire started in the basement of Don’s Butcher Shop which had several compressors and two fans. Those fans were turned on creating a constant air flow and once the fire started, the fans kept feeding the fire oxygen.
