Chamber wants more passing lanes built on Highway 11 North

The Temiskaming Shores chamber of commerce wants to see more passing lanes on Highway 11 North.   According to Northern Ontario Business, the chamber is pressing the provincial government for more lanes following a fatal crash last month on the roadway.  It wants extra lanes added between North Bay and Temiskaming Shores, a distance of 160 kilometres.  The Ministry of Transportation will meet with stakeholders, including the OPP, to consider the chamber’s request.  Highway 11 sees more transport drivers in the winter because they want to avoid road closures caused by snow on Highway 17 near Lake Superior.
