MP says CTRC broadband decision should help north

The MP for Nickel Belt is applauding a CTRC decision that now considers broadband internet a basic telecommunication service.  Liberal Marc Serre says it means internet service providers will have to increase internet speeds in northern, isolated and rural communities.  Serre says faster internet speeds will make it more attractive for businesses to locate or expand into Northern Ontario.  That’s because densely populated centres make it more expensive to do business and with faster internet, some companies might move north where some costs are cheaper.
