Last week it was police in Sudbury warning northerners about crooked canvassers and now Timmins police are doing the same thing. Timmins police say there are people going door-to-door representing fake charities. However, police spokesman Marc Depatie has some advice to overcome this which includes giving to groups you already know and have donated to in the past. What happens is the scammers pocket the money you give them and the charity they claim to represent will never see your donation.
