The Mayor of Sault Ste. Marie was among the first politician out of the gate to thank Sault MPP David Orazietti for his years of service. The MPP announced his sudden departure from politics mid-afternoon Friday at his constituency office in the Sault. Thanks also came from Premier Kathleen Wynne and NDP leader Andrea Horwath. Horwath says although she didn’t always see eye-to-eye with Orazietti, she respected his commitment to his constituents. Tory leader Patrick Brown also thanked Orazietti for his service, but then added he expects more Liberal MPPs to quit before the 2018 election because the party has become too self-interested. Orzietti officially leaves politics at the end of the year and that will trigger a by-election for the riding sometime in 2017.
