It’s been two years in the works and now the long term care courtyard can finally be built at the West Nipissing General Hospital. Julie Vezina, a resident of the community, began pursuing the project two years ago shortly after her parents passed away. Vezina was going to ask several businesses to help with the project but thanks to the Caisse Popularie in Sturgeon Falls, much of that leg work is now done. The Caisse is pledging $100,000 for the facility, putting it well within reach of the approximate $110,000 project. Some of the courtyard features are raised gardens, interlocking stone and a covered gazebo. Then in a gated area, there will also be benches, picnic tables, tables, chairs and canopies for shade.
