A New Liskeard-area man has been fined $1,000 for leaving a broken down boat and motor in a lake which then froze in the ice. Derek Leveille was operating a friend’s boat near Mission Narrows in Lake Temiskaming last December when the engine died. Leveille told OPP investigating the abandoned boat incident he would remove it from the lake. But he didn’t and by January the boat was stuck in the frozen water. The owner eventually removed the boat and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry charged Leveille for abandoning the boat.
