Grand Council Chief Pat Madahbee is telling the Harper government to kill its First Nation Education Act. The feds have put the proposed Act on hold while positions on the dispute are clarified. At issue is the head of the Assembly of First Nations, Shawn Atleo, quitting his post after earlier supporting the legislation. Madahbee says Atleo’s resignation should tell the feds First Nations don’t want their legislation. Instead he wants the Conservative government to adopt education measures developed by Aboriginals.
