There was a mock disaster in West Nipissing on Tuesday. Personnel from various emergency services responded to two scenarios. In one instance, a suspicious package was found in the ambulance garage of the West Nipissing General Hospital. The second disaster was a dam rupture at the West Nipissing Power Generation resulting in several injuries. Police inspector Ray St. Pierre says mock disasters are carried out to help municipalities determine any shortcomings in their emergency preparedness and to hone their skills at responding to real disasters.
