Charges laid in mining death

A year after a miner died in Sudbury, Glencore and a supervisor have been charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.  Fifty-four-year-old Richard Pigeau died one year ago on October 20th when a piece of machinery hit him.  Glencore faces seven charges including failing to ensure its equipment was in good condition and altering things at a workplace fatality.  The supervisor is looking at two charges one of which is a failure to work in a way that doesn’t endanger other workers.  Pigueau was a 20-year mining veteran and the company and supervisor have a first court appearance on December 9th.
