Grand Council Chief praises effort to reach modern-day treaty

A few days ago, Moose News announced the efforts to negotiate a modern day treaty with the Algonquins of Ontario.  The Algonquins will talk with the feds and province on how to resolve a land claim involving 36-thousand square kilometres in Eastern Ontario.  Pat Madahbee the Grand Council Chief says just to get to this stage was exhausting for all parties.  Madahbee is commending the Algonquins for their achievement so far.  The dispute is one of the longest outstanding land claims in Canada and the final deal is expected to recognize the land and natural resources rights the Algonquins have to the land.
