West Nipissing council votes 6-2 in favour of another OPP costing study

West Nipissing residents have to go through another policing study to determine who can provide a cheaper service: the municipal force or the OPP.  Council voted 6-2 to ask for another study, three years after going through a similar exercise.  Councillor Yvon Duhaime opposes another look at the OPP.  Duhaime says people weren’t happy with the first study and now council is going to put the public through another costing analysis.   Duhaime says it might cost less to switch to the OPP at the onset, but he believes their costs will rise above the municipal police costs in the future.  Mayor Joanne Savage was the other member of council who opposed another study.
