FedNor is here to stay. That’s the commitment from the minister responsible for FedNor, Navdeep Bains. Bains was reacting to a claim last week from the federal member for Timmins-James Bay. Charlie Angus said northern voices will be silenced because the Liberals are eliminating the ministerial position in FedNor. Bains acknowledges FedNor will no longer have a minister at its head. But Bains adds that doesn’t mean the agency will disappear, a perception he claims Angus is trying to create. Bains says FedNor is an important part of Northern Ontario and it’s not going to disappear.
