Earthquake strikes near North Bay

What some people in Corbeil thought was an explosion earlier Friday afternoon turns out to have been an earthquake.  Natural Resources Canada confirms a quake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale hit the area just before 2:30pm.  NRC says the quake originated 20 kilometres northeast of Powassan.  There are no reports of damage.  Moments after the quake hit, a listener from Corbeil called Moose FM in North Bay saying they felt something like an explosion that shook their home.  Moose News called the North Bay OPP who confirmed they also got calls from several homeowners reporting what they thought was an explosion.  However, the explosion was an earthquake.
