Directors with the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities are voicing several concerns. A big issue they discussed at a board meeting was how unaffordable electricity prices affect Northern Ontario. They also talked about what impact removing the provincial portion of the HST will have on northerners as well as the effectiveness of a further 12 percent cut for customers in low density areas. FedNor also made it to the agenda. The consensus among FONOM is the federal government doesn’t give the economic funding agency the financial resources that it should receive.
