Ontario’s Regional Chief says there will come the day when First Nations become the economic engine that generates prosperity for everyone. Isadore Day made the comment as Ontario First Nation leaders meet in Toronto Wednesday and Thursday of this week to discuss economic development. Day says Treaty rights are being recognized more often especially when it comes to jurisdiction and control of native lands.
Day says as more First Nations become equal partners in various projects, they’ll become a powerful economic force in the area of natural and renewable resources. Industry and government agencies are also at the two-day economic forum.
