Nipissing’s Vic Fedeli says northern households are treated unfairly when it comes to energy. Fedeli says the Financial Accountability Officer has released new numbers showing the north pays a lot more for power than the south. The FAO says overall energy costs in a northern home are 25 percent more than what a Torontonian pays.
And if you just look at electricity, the price difference jumps to 45 percent more. And just recently, the energy ministry said there are fewer outages or brown outs since the Liberals took power from the Tories in 2003. But Fedeli says according to the Annual Blackout Tracker, power outages in Ontario jumped 275 percent from 2012 to last year.
