Hydro One has some tips for people thinking of planting trees and one is put the tree in the right place. That means don’t put the sapling in an area where its branches will hit hydro wires as it grows, Hydro says put it about 30 feet away. The utility says one third of outages are the result of branches coming into contact with its wires. Hydro also says pick a southerly corner for your tree so you get shade later in the day.
