West Nipissing police are investigating several break-ins. In one case, quite a few items were stolen from a cottage in Crystal Falls. Inspector Ray St. Pierre says the break-in is a bit worrisome because of what was stolen. The theft includes two firearms as well as lawnmower and chainsaw. There was also a theft at a business where expensive tools and a compressor were stolen and a home in Sturgeon Falls was entered and the culprit rummaged through cupboards.
Meanwhile, police have caught a break when it comes to damage and theft from vehicles in Sturgeon Falls. St. Pierre says in one instance, the driver’s window was smashed and money and loose change were stolen. In another case, a person scratched a vehicle. But St. Pierre says police got lucky because a vigilant person saw a woman going through vehicles and called police. The woman is charged with theft.
